Gatwick Airport up for sale : November 2008 : End of an era for the boarding pass

Another bidder expressed an interest in the purchase of London Gatwick Airport

It was announced yesterday that 3i Infrastructure a UK private equity group would like to be involved in the acquisition of Gatwick Airport put up for sale by BAA. BAA had been issued a ruling in August by the competition authorities that it must sell 3 of its 7 UK airports, but currently BAA have only put Gatwick up for sale.

It is expected by BAA that Gatwick could fetch up to £2 billion and with this price tag other consortia bids are expected. Interest has already been expressed by Virgin Atlantic, Fraport the operator at Frankfurt airport Manchester airports group and RREEF, Deutsche Bank’s infrastructure arm.
