Survey identifies the most punctual carriers in Europe.

Scandinavian airline SAS has been named as the most punctual airline in Europe for the second year in a row. The latest figures also show that Ryanair is outperforming British Airways in terms of punctuality. The firm Flightstats keeps track of arrival and departure times. It found that in excess of 90 per cent of SAS flights arrived on time between May and July this year. SAS was also shown to be the most on-time carrier in Europe last year. In fact, the figures show SAS to be the most punctual major airline in the world in July this year.

Over the same period, Ryanair achieved a punctuality rate of 69.18 per cent. British Airways managed 68.22 per cent. Budget carrier easyJet, on the other hand, languished down the tables, with only 52.45 per cent of its flights arriving on time. Following a string of dismal performances, the airline’s founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioanno warned last month that he would consider revoking the licence allowing the airline to use the ‘easy’ brand unless it cuts its average delay to below 15 minutes by 26 October.
