Low-cost carrier Flybe has announced new routes for the summer travel season.

The firm said in a press release issued this week that new flights would begin from several major UK gateways, notably Manchester airport where it will launch a dozen new flights to several regional destinations including Newquay and Knock.

In total, eight new routes are included in the expansion, including Newcastle to Bergen; Knock to Leeds Bradford, Birmingham to Waterford, Newquay to Norwich and Belfast City, as well as a new international link between Southampton and Tours in France.

There will be 10 routes in total from Gatwick airport south of the capital, including weekend services to Bergerac and two flights daily to Nantes. Meanwhile, Flybe partner Loganair will offer several routes from its base in Norwich to Isle of Man, Exeter, Southampton and Manchester airport.

Flybe’s director of marketing, Simon Lilley, said that the company was pleased with its extended services with Loganair and other codeshare partners, which she said would allow Flybe customers to reach more great European destinations and beyond.

Officials said in the press release that Flybe would offer 86 different point-to-point services through the summer programme and that several routes would lunch on 5 May.
